PRESS: Anzalone Liszt Grove Research: Amendment 2 at 62%

(Miami Beach, FL) - Recent statewide polling finds that a majority of Florida voters currently plan to vote yes to approve Amendment 2 and bring medical marijuana to the sunshine state. Current support levels are just above the 60% threshold needed for passage. With both sides competitive in outreach and advertising, this continues to be a tight race to watch over the final week.

The poll, conducted for United for Care by Anzalone Liszt Grove Research, was conducted through landlines and cellphones with likely 2014 voters in Florida. Interviews were conducted between October 22 – 27, 2014. Respondents were selected at random, with interviews apportioned geographically based on past voter turnout. Expected margin of sampling error is ±3.4% with a 95% confidence level. Party registration composition for this survey is 41% Democrat / 43% Republican / 16% NPA or Other.

"This poll demonstrates a continued upward swing - attributable to recent endorsements by major papers across the state as well as a substantial increase in our outreach to voters," said Ben Pollara, Campaign Manager.

The full poll document by ALG can be found here.

I agree. There should be a recount.

Why is there no outcry for a recount. It is 100% true that 99% of the people polled voted Yes on 2. Something just doesn’t add up. This may not be the time to become PC pacifists but demand a recount. Otherwise a major push at the legislative level to just plain emulate Washington DC and Legalize it.

Wake Up Floridians and Americans. Right now our doctors are prescribing much worse medication. Such as Adderall for treating ADD or ADHD. Have you sat down and really took a good look at just a fraction of the possible side effects? There have been studies with cannabis that treats ADD or ADHD with no side effects. My son has ADD and I know from my own experience that adderall is 1000 times worse than cannabis, but that is ok for our doctors to prescribe this medication. Look, the only doctors that really don’t care or show no interest to learn more about cannabis cure, are the doctors that get a kick back from the pharmaceutical “chemical” labs. It’s all about money people!!! I am 57 years old and was diagnosed with severe depression as of late. It use to be just depression, but I was prescribed Chantix to help stop smoking, and it made my depression what it is today. So, as a Major depressed person, I also suffer from anxiety and insomnia. To improve your depression, it is important to sleep, without sleep, your depression gets worse. It is a vicious cycle. What really helps me is a certain strain of cannabis, whenever I am fortunate to find it. With that alone I don’t need the anxiety altering drugs like klonopin or Temazepam to help me sleep. Those two drugs are extremely addicting and if I don’t have my strain of cannabis, I need to take those drugs. When taking those drugs my body requires more and more to get the same results with terrible side effects I might add. Also, these two drugs are widely abused by patients and maybe used as a recreational drug that kills us. As for the cannabis I have never in my 30 years of smoking it seen, heard, read or knew of any deaths cause by it. I have never needed more than the usual amount prior to sleeping and never in my 30 years have I ever said, gee I need to try something harder like cocaine, etc. I hate chemicals period. I like the natural form of treatment. There are so many good uses for this medication that many people can benefit from. We really don’t remember, but in the 19th century, we used it as a form of treatment. It was only outlawed back in 1932 when the film “Refer Maddness” came out to frighten you and stated you would have hallucinations. Not once have I hallucinated. What a joke! That law’s underlying purpose was to make more money for the state by having more arrest on the books. Please reconsider your vote on November 4th and say yes to amendment 2 and stop drinking.

I have worked with many hospice and failure to thrive patients over the past 20 years and I am voting for 2. There is a great need for alternative care in Florida.

First off I never smoked pot but I who do have MS and plan on voting yes on 2. For ALL the CLOSED MINDED PEOPLE out there , what about all the people who are on the pills that prescribed everyday or how about that you can’t over dose on pot but you can pills. This is NOT about the “legal right” to get high but to help with my MS PAIN . Until you have a such a life changing experience you’ll never have compassion.

So what if it’s about wanting to smoke legally? That’s part of it. Of course it is. It shouldn’t be illegal in the first place. Worry about the government approved drugs like alcohol and cigarettes and go somewhere else with your silly, dated propaganda.

Already voted yes on 2!!!!! The people put it on the ballot, now they will pass it by a majority…. if this was at 50% required level for passing such as other states we would’ve had this in the bag…but I’m glad that we’re still able to push the 60% margin and show these politics that we demand reform.
