Florida Senator Eleanor Sobel will moderate a town hall meeting about Amendment 2, the legalization of medical marijuana, on Tuesday, September 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Judson A. Samuels South Campus Performing and Cultural Arts Center, 7200 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines. 
This event, which is free and open to the public, coincides with the gubernatorial debate taking place at Broward College in October, and will bring together two organizations, United for Care and Drug Free Florida, as they debate their reasons for and against the legalization of medical marijuana in the State. Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes will also give a presentation about the changes to voting rights in Florida.

Hosted by the ACLU, this discussion, which also serves as the Northeast Chapter’s annual meeting, will feature special guest speaker John Morgan. An attorney at the law firm of Morgan & Morgan, John Morgan has been a leader in the statewide campaign to pass Amendment 2, the proposal to allow Floridians living with diseases to access marijuana for medical purposes.

Morgan and leaders from the Northeast Chapter will discuss what Amendment 2 means for patients, for Florida’s existing drug laws, and for civil libertarians concerned about the excesses of the War on Drugs.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
